beats headphones by doctor dray Dre Studio Wireless headphones review
One of the most watched TV commercials over this Christmas season has been the Beats by Dr. Dre Studio Wireless headphones one with the kid grooving along until Scrooge asks him what he’s wearing. At the end Scrooge says “I want those indeed” so do I.
There a reason Beats are so popular. [Beats]
I’ve been testing out a pair of Beats by Dr. Dre Over ear Studio Wireless Headphones for a while and I have to say that other than they look really cool, their sound quality is superb.
The Studio headphones are wireless noise cancelling and have a 20 hour stated battery life. I’ve used them a lot since I started testing them out, and their battery life is pretty impressive I can’t remember the last time I charged them. Four little LEDs on the headphones let you know how much charge is remaining.
The sound quality is great and you can listen at very low volume and hear music clearly, or you can crank it up until your eyes vibrate and hear every note. There’s no real drop off at low volume nor is there distortion when turning the volume up. The adaptive noise cancellation (ANC) is automatically supposed to strike a balance between what you’re listening to and the outside world. There’s even a mode called ANC only that lets you use them only for noise cancellation.

Frankly, these headphones are as good as I thought they might be. I’ve wanted to try a pair out for a long time the fact that so many celebs use them isn’t lost on me they can afford to buy whatever they like and they often choose these headphones, so there’s a lot more to it than just a name.
In the box you get the headphones, a 3.5mm audio cable, a cable with an in line microphone and remote control for iOS devices, and a hard shelled carrying case.
The fit and finish of these headphones is extraordinary asit should be for the $329.95 CAD price tag. They come in a variety of colours: black, white, red, blue, matte black, pink, titanium, champagne and metallic sky. The ear cups are very comfortable for long term wear even over my Dumbo ears.
Beats by Dr. Dre Studio Headphones weigh in at .26kg, 13% lighter than the original Beats. The smooth headband is adjustable to fit just about any size of head, so the ear cups are able to fit snugly around your ears to keep music in and noise out.
Beats by Dr. Dre Studio Wireless headphones are expensive, but you get what you pay for. [Beats]
The Beats headphones were originally designed by an expert in the music industry, Dr. Dre Jimmy Lovine, and have long been used by some of the top folks in the music biz. They’re designed to offer quality performance regardless of what type of music you might want to listen to and from my tests they do.
I’ve said it a million times; I’m no audiophile but I know what I like. I can’t identify all the nuanced things an audiophile can, but highs, mids and particularly the bass are just the way I like them with these headphones.
Regardless if it Il Divo, AC/DC, Bach, country or any derivative of any of those music genres, these headphones consistently impressed me with their quality of the fit, finish and sound. I listen to just about any type of music unless it goes to extremes, and the beats Studio headphones offer great sound for everything.
